Dare Café

Delicious and Responsible Eating aka Dare Café is one that should not be missed!
These guys are ahead of their game in ethical and allergy-aware eats. I don’t know about you guys but whenever I think of ‘allergy-aware eats’ bland salads and unappealing gluten free food pop into mind but this place is definitely the opposite.
As we entered, we were greeted by one of the staff members, Marcie, who is as warm as sunshine on a cold day, as is her co-worker Glenda.
We are seated out back in some good light and given some menus.
For drinks we opt for a hot chocolate and flat white.

The hot chocolate is large and homely which was welcoming in the cold weather. Accompanied by a marshmallow and some chocolate chips to add that extra sweetness, it’s definitely one of the prettiest and yummiest I’ve had in a long time!

The flat white is made of coffee which is of rainforest alliance so the growers get in on the sale of those beans, promoting that ‘giving back to the community’ attitude.
For our meals, we opted for the French toast and the big brekkie.

The French toast came with grilled bacon, bananas and maple syrup. Still such a strange combination for me, the bacon and maple syrup actually worked really well together and made for a super tasty dish.

The big brekkie was made up of two eggs, organic sausages, grilled bacon, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, grilled sweet potato and sourdough. Each piece of this meal was just perfect, not to mention the portion size. We were left rather satisfied – no more hungry tummy!

After we had finished eating, we were stuffed but were brought out a gluten free and dairy free almond and coconut slice. Surprisingly, the taste and texture of this was quite on point. Moist and flavoursome, it wasn’t what I was expecting – something dry but dense and flavourless.
All of their baked goods are made in-store daily so you know they are fresh and handled well.
Thank you to Ompty Media and Dare Café Maroubra for letting us dine in as your guests.
