Vapiano

I got approached by the restaurant via a DM on Instagram as they had recently launched their new winter menu and wanted me to sample the new pumpkin soup and Nutella fondue.
When we got there we were greeted by the lovely Heaven who was super polite and helpful throughout the night, answering any questions we had. We also had another waiter by the name of Rafael who was also just as lovely.
We were seated at a lovely little corner table topped with condiments of olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and fresh potted herbed plants of rosemary and basil then explained the menu.
So as a starter we were trialing the new hearty hot pumpkin soup, which was served with fresh crusty bread.
This was absolutely delicious. The soup wasn’t your typical pumpkin soup. It was more of a lighter, liquidy texture and not as thick. It was filled with lots of lovely cheese and garlic croutons – absolutely perfect for the winter weather and packed full of flavour!

For drinks we had the Vapiano house lager and house made lemonade.
The lager was nice and light. The flavour wasn’t too strong but it had a good taste.

The house made lemonade was really good too. It was a nice, strong lemon flavour without all of the sugar.

For the mains, we were allowed to choose whatever we liked off the menu. We both chose pastas as they are freshly made each day in-house which is something so rare these days.
I opted for the Pesto Rosso pasta, which was made with fresh sun-dried tomato pesto with roasted pine nuts, chilli, ricotta and cherry tomatoes. For the pasta, I chose penne.

I loved this! I love sun-dried tomatoes so this really was a treat for me. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and Rafael our waiter, was super attentive and even asked us how we liked our pasta cooked whether it was well done or al dente.
For the other pasta dish, it was Bolognese made with Italian style beef and pork, onions, carrots and cherry tomatoes in homemade tomato sauce with linguine as the pasta.
I had a few forkfuls of this and it was also delicious! The flavour was present but not super overpowering, which is what I like my pasta to be.

As for dessert, we got to trial the new Nutella fondue which consisted of warm choc Nutella dipping sauce served with marshmallows, strawberries and chocolate brownie bites.

I loved this! As you guys know I’m a big fan of Nutella so it’s always super exciting for me finding something on the dessert menu with Nutella on it, but those bite sized brownies were absolutely delicious!
The General Manager, Malin came over and introduced herself to us and provided a brief background on the restaurant and took us on a tour of the upstairs area.
The restaurant started off in Germany and is scattered across Australia in places such as the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Garden City, Toowoomba, Melbourne and Canberra and is basically a place where people aren’t confined to where they are seated. The idea is for people to be free to roam around.
The upstairs area is lovely, spacious and has a warm feeling to it. There are potting stations where the herbed plants sit and can recover.
Definitely a place to go and visit!
