So as you guys know, I’m a huge fan of San Churro. Whenever I see something new on the menu, I have to go and try it.
This time, we were lucky enough to get invited by the guys over at the Parramatta store to try the new vegan options (as well as the non-vegan options) they are planning to launch on their menu.
With churros, they’ve got all of the local faves but now with a vegan dark chocolate or cookie butter dipping sauce option – how great is that?! I know I would have loved this when I was a vegetarian slowly easing into becoming a vegan before I had problems with my iron levels.
They have also now got what they call the Happy Vegan.
This is a handmade churro bowl rolled in cinnamon sugar, filled with vegan salted caramel and honeycomb gelato, drizzled in dark chocolate, topped with fresh strawberries and smashed oreo cookies.
This was so good and definitely didn’t taste any different from a dessert which isn’t vegan which is great.
On the non-vegan side, they have the Salty Sweet Siesta made of a handmade churro bowl rolled in cinnamon sugar, filled with Spanish carmel and Spanish milk chocolate ice cream, topped with salted caramel fudge, fresh bananas, whipped cream and chopped nuts.
This was epic. That Spanish carmel is seriously good.
Also new in terms of churro bowls is the Choco Berry made of a handmade churro bowl rolled in cinnamon sugar, filled with Spanish milk chocolate ice cream, topped with fresh strawberries, banana, decadent chocolate brownie, whipped cream and flakes.
This was just divine. I seriously love their brownies and I’m not just saying that!
On the Desserts menu list they have the Strawberry Bowl which is strawberries served with a dip cup of melted vegan chocolate – perfect for a lighter option.
On the Share Plates menu they have the fruit and churros fondue which is a fondue of melted chocolate served with mini cinnamon churros and fresh seasonal fruit, as well as the Churros Fiesta which is made up of 18 churros and 6 dip cups – great for a picnic!
In terms of drinks, they have the dark hot chocolate as a vegan option as well as the mocha.
They also have all of the thick Spanish drinks in vegan options. Yes, that’s right! That means the classic, sugar free classic, Azteca, Madrid mocha and hot & cold. So good for the up and coming cold season.
In terms of premium shakes, they have a new item called the Choc Caramel Craving, which is salted caramel and honeycomb gelato, dark chocolate and bonsoy with dark chocolate shavings. YasSss – can’t even tell it’s vegan!!!
On the cold drinks menu they have the traditional lemonade and peached iced tea. Both of which I am a fan but you guys also know I am a lemon lover so naturally, the traditional lemonade comes in at the top of my list.
With fruit smoothies, there is a newbie called the Go Troppo, which is made up of kiwi and lime with pineapple juice and topped with a creamy coconut foam. Can we say yum and take me to the Bahamas where I can lay in the sun and sip this all day long?!
Also up for grabs is the cookie butter filled churros. This little baby is mean in flavour and one of the best I’ve had so far.
More on the drinks, they now have iced lattes, iced long blacks and iced chai lattes. The chai lattes are not too strong but present in flavour which is great.
Even the little kiddies get in on the action! Their menu item being the Kids Churros which is three kid sized churros and one dip cup with sprinkles.
So there you have it guys, spread the word and have a try for yourself. It really isn’t as bad as you think it will be. And to put the rumours to rest – no, vegan chocolate does NOT taste like cardboard (well at least not this one)! Have a try for yourself and let me know what you think.
Happy reading!
